The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State has appointed Chidiebere Egwu, its Zonal Youth Leader, as the new Southeast National Vice Chairman, following the expulsion of Ali Odefa.
In a letter addressed to the Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Illiya Damagun, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Adolphus Wabara, the party confirmed Egwu’s nomination. The decision was linked to Odefa’s expulsion for alleged anti-party activities.
Earlier, a Federal High Court in Abakaliki upheld Odefa’s suspension by the Oguduokwor Ward executives in Onicha Local Government Area. After reviewing the allegations, the Ward Disciplinary Committee recommended his expulsion, which was finalized on December 12, 2024.
Prominent PDP leaders in Ebonyi State, including Chief Onwe S. Onwe (former Acting National Secretary) and Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu (2023 Deputy Governorship Candidate), endorsed the move. Other notable signatories included John Igboke (former Deputy National Youth Leader) and Austin Edeze (former governorship aspirant and Director General of the 2023 PDP Governorship Campaign Council).
