Abakaliki FC Announces 55-Day Break After President Federation Cup Elimination

Date:

Abakaliki FC has announced a 55-day end-of-season holiday for its players and technical team following the club’s exit from the 2026 President Federation Cup.

The Ebonyi-based football club, popularly known as the Rice Boys, is scheduled to return to training on Saturday, July 25, 2026, as preparations begin for the upcoming 2026/27 football season.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the club chairman, Senator Obinna Ogba, who explained that the break would allow the team to review its recent campaign and make necessary improvements.

Ogba stated that the club’s management would work on addressing the challenges and weaknesses identified during the concluded season to ensure a stronger performance in the new campaign.

He further noted that details about players who will remain with the club would be released at a later date.

Abakaliki FC ended their Conference B campaign in fifth position with 25 points before their journey in the President Federation Cup came to an end.

The Rice Boys were knocked out in the Round of 32 after suffering defeat to Barau FC in Abuja.
