The outgoing Chairman of Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Mrs. Euphemia Nneka Nwali, has called on her successor, Barrister Chinedu Mkpuma, to sustain and improve on the development projects and programmes initiated during her administration.
Nwali made the appeal on Monday at a valedictory session held in Ezza South to review the achievements, challenges and experiences of her administration ahead of the formal handover to the newly elected chairman.
Having completed her second tenure as chairman, Nwali described leadership as a relay race in which every administration has a responsibility to contribute to the development of the society before handing over to the next leadership.
She said her departure from office should not be viewed as the end of Ezza South’s development journey but as an opportunity for the incoming administration to build on existing foundations and introduce fresh initiatives.
Nwali also appealed to residents of Ezza South to support the incoming administration regardless of political affiliations, stressing that the collective development of the local government should remain the priority.
She urged Mkpuma to consolidate the achievements of the outgoing administration, strengthen existing programmes and bring new ideas that would accelerate development across Ezza South.
While reflecting on her tenure, Nwali listed several areas where her administration recorded interventions, including infrastructure development, road construction and rehabilitation, water supply, electricity, security, market development, empowerment initiatives and human capital development.
The outgoing chairman stressed that the achievements were the result of collective efforts involving members of her administration, council officials and residents of Ezza South.
She commended her vice chairman, councillors, supervisory councillors, political appointees and career staff for their contributions throughout her tenure.
Nwali also appreciated traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders, women, youths, security agencies and other stakeholders for their support and cooperation during her administration.
The former Ezza South chairman expressed gratitude to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for providing the platform through which her administration served the people of the local government.
She also thanked the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for his support, guidance and commitment to the development of the state.
According to Nwali, the governor’s support enabled the Ezza South administration to align with and complement the programmes and policies of the Ebonyi State Government while delivering development initiatives to residents.
As she exits office, Nwali expressed confidence that the incoming administration can take Ezza South to greater heights by sustaining existing gains, improving ongoing programmes and introducing new strategies for development.
