Ebonyi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, has pledged to attract approximately ₦2 trillion in private-sector investment to the state within six months if elected governor in 2027.
Odii made the promise on Thursday, October 15, during an interview on Arise Television’s The Morning Show, where he outlined his proposed strategy for attracting investors, expanding business opportunities and stimulating economic growth across Ebonyi State.
The businessman said he intended to leverage his extensive business network and create a favourable investment climate to attract local and other private investors to the state.
According to him, Ebonyi has considerable economic opportunities in solid minerals, real estate, manufacturing, hospitality and other commercial sectors that could generate employment and boost economic activities.
The PDP candidate attributed his confidence in attracting ₦2 trillion in investments to his relationships with business owners, entrepreneurs and other investors.
He disclosed that he had more than 2,000 business contacts who could be encouraged to establish or expand their operations in Ebonyi if the state offered suitable conditions for investment.
Odii explained that his proposed administration would focus on developing policies that address investors’ needs and make the state an attractive destination for businesses.
He maintained that investors would be more willing to commit funds to Ebonyi if they were confident of earning returns on their investments.
According to the governorship hopeful, establishing an enabling business environment would be central to his plan to attract substantial private capital within his proposed six-month timeline.
Odii identified solid minerals as one of Ebonyi State’s major economic opportunities, arguing that the sector could attract investors and contribute to the state’s development. He also highlighted real estate, manufacturing and hospitality as sectors with the potential to benefit from increased private investment.
The PDP candidate suggested that investors who had built successful businesses in Lagos and other commercial centres could consider expanding their operations to Ebonyi if the state became more business-friendly
He said investment across these sectors could create economic opportunities for residents and support the state’s industrial development.
However, the ₦2 trillion target remains a pledge by the candidate, with the proposed timeline and the mechanisms for securing the investment yet to be demonstrated in government.
During the television interview, the presenter questioned how Odii intended to attract ₦2 trillion within six months and asked about his previous experience in securing investments on that scale.
In response, Odii referred to his more than two decades of business experience, describing his involvement in manufacturing, chemical trading, construction and real estate.
He identified himself as the chairman and chief executive officer of Orient Global Group, which he said operates in manufacturing, processing and the trading of industrial and oil-and-gas chemicals.
He also mentioned Optimus Holdings, which he said has interests in construction, real estate and related business activities.
Odii said he began his business career as a small trader before expanding into other ventures and developing relationships with multinational companies.
He argued that his experience in the private sector had given him an understanding of the factors businesses consider when deciding where to invest.
The candidate maintained that this experience would inform his proposed economic policies and efforts to attract investors to Ebonyi State.
His pledge comes ahead of the 2027 governorship election, as political contenders present their plans for economic development, job creation and improved living conditions in the state.
