The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 75-year-old man in Ebonyi State as part of its ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug activities across Nigeria.
The anti-narcotics agency also intercepted consignments of opioids during a separate operation in Taraba State, preventing the distribution of the illicit substances.
According to reports, the arrests and seizures were carried out by NDLEA operatives during intelligence-led operations targeting drug trafficking networks in both states.
The elderly suspect in Ebonyi was taken into custody for alleged involvement in activities connected to the illegal possession or distribution of controlled substances.
Meanwhile, NDLEA officials recovered opioid consignments in Taraba as the agency continues its crackdown on the abuse and trafficking of pharmaceutical drugs and other banned substances.
The agency has repeatedly warned Nigerians against the dangers of drug abuse, noting that it will continue to intensify operations to dismantle drug supply chains nationwide.
