Governor Francis Nwifuru has appealed to the people of Ebonyi State to forgive any shortcomings of his administration and continue supporting the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the appeal during a democracy thanksgiving service held at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki to mark the third anniversary of his administration.
Speaking before government officials, religious leaders, political stakeholders, and residents, Nwifuru acknowledged that mistakes may have occurred during the course of governance. He extended the plea for forgiveness to himself, members of the National Assembly representing the state, and lawmakers in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.
According to the governor, public service comes with challenges and learning experiences, making it impossible for any administration to operate without imperfections.
“Forgive me, forgive the National Assembly members, and forgive the House of Assembly members for our shortcomings. We ask for another opportunity to continue serving you,” he said.
Reflecting on his three years in office, Nwifuru expressed gratitude to God for the progress recorded under his administration. He noted that leadership requires humility, commitment, and the support of the people to achieve meaningful development.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving governance through enhanced service delivery, infrastructure development, and policies aimed at improving the welfare of Ebonyi residents.
He also assured citizens that ongoing projects and development programmes would be sustained to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach more communities across the state.
The thanksgiving event attracted several prominent political figures, including former Ebonyi State governors such as David Umahi and Martin Elechi. Serving senators, government officials, party leaders, and other stakeholders were also present.
