Francis Nwifuru was absent from the screening exercise organized by All Progressives Congress for incumbent governors seeking re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The screening, which held between May 9 and 10, 2026, saw several APC governors appear before the party’s screening panel. However, Nwifuru, alongside Siminalayi Fubara and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, did not participate in the exercise.
APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda said the trio were excused because of pressing official duties in their respective states.
According to him, Francis Nwifuru informed the party leadership that he had important state matters to attend to, leading to his absence from the screening.
The APC leadership also assured party members that arrangements would be made for the affected governors to complete the process within the stipulated timeframe.
Nwifuru has already obtained the APC nomination form as preparations continue for the party’s 2027 governorship primaries in Ebonyi State.
