Ebonyi Transport Service GM Distances Self from Husband’s Criticism of Governor Nwifuru, Offers Public Apology

Date:

The General Manager of the Ebonyi Transport Service (EBOTRANS), Mrs. Nnenna Igwe, has publicly distanced herself from an open letter written by her husband, Chief Emmanuel Igwe, which criticized the administration of Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru.

Chief Emmanuel Igwe, a former Special Assistant on Lands during the administration of former Governor David Umahi and currently a Senior Legislative Aide to the Deputy President of the Senate, recently published an open letter titled “Time to Stop Forceful Takeover of People’s Land in Abakaliki (Parts 1 & 2).” In the letter, he accused the Ebonyi State Government of alleged land-related injustices.

Reacting to the publication, Mrs. Igwe clarified that she had no prior knowledge of the letter and was neither consulted nor involved in its drafting or release.

The EBOTRANS General Manager emphasized that her husband’s views were expressed solely in his personal capacity and should not be linked to her or the Ebonyi State Government.

She condemned what she described as an unnecessary attack on Governor Francis Nwifuru, stressing that concerns or disagreements should be addressed through respectful dialogue instead of public statements capable of undermining the government.

Mrs. Igwe reaffirmed her loyalty to Governor Nwifuru, the Ebonyi State Government, and the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that she remains committed to supporting the administration’s development agenda.

“As a beneficiary of the leadership and goodwill of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, I remain dedicated to promoting the achievements of this administration. Where grievances exist, they should be communicated through constructive and respectful channels rather than statements that could damage the image of the government,” she said.

She also reaffirmed her support for the governor’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda and pledged continued commitment to the peace, progress, and development of Ebonyi State.

Mrs. Igwe further apologized to Governor Nwifuru, members of the APC, and residents of Ebonyi State who may have been offended by the controversy, expressing regret over the incident and reiterating her unwavering support for the current administration.
