Umahi Declares No Markets, Burials, Farming in Ebonyi During 2027 Presidential Election

Date:

Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has announced that market activities, burial ceremonies, and farming operations will be suspended across Ebonyi State on the day of the 2027 presidential election as part of efforts to mobilize strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Umahi made the statement during the APC presidential primary election in Uburu, his hometown, where he reiterated his support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former Ebonyi governor described Tinubu as a key figure for the progress and development of the South-East, urging residents of the region to unite behind the president’s re-election campaign.

According to him, the party is determined to secure victory for all APC candidates, including President Tinubu and Ebonyi State Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

“We are committed to ensuring victory for all APC candidates, from Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Governor Nwifuru,” Umahi stated.

He further stressed that no commercial activities, farming operations, or burial events would take place in Ebonyi State during the election period, emphasizing what he described as total loyalty and support for the president.

Meanwhile, the APC presidential primary election was conducted across the 13 local government areas of Ebonyi State, with Tinubu recording a sweeping victory in the exercise.

Announcing the results in Abakaliki, Governor Nwifuru, who also served as the state collation officer, disclosed that Tinubu secured 207,579 votes, while his challenger, Stanley Osiofor, received no votes across the state.

Nwifuru revealed that APC’s total membership in Ebonyi State stands at 215,490 members, noting that 207,579 members were accredited and participated in the voting process.

The governor described the outcome as an accurate representation of results collated from all 13 local government areas, reinforcing APC’s strong political presence in Ebonyi State.
