Francis Nwifuru, the Governor of Ebonyi State, has said that only politicians with clear achievements in public office will be considered for the All Progressives Congress (APC) tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor made this known during the commissioning of constituency projects executed by Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, the Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District and Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate.
Speaking through the Ebonyi APC Chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha, Governor Nwifuru stressed that the party will prioritize performance and visible impact when selecting candidates for the next election cycle.
According to him, the period of evaluating elected officials has arrived, and those who cannot point to meaningful development projects in their constituencies may find it difficult to secure the party’s ticket in 2027.
“The time has come to assess our leaders. Only those with verifiable achievements and visible results will be considered to represent the party in future elections,” he stated.
Responding during the project commissioning, Senator Nwebonyi said his decision to undertake several development projects was driven by the desire to support the development agenda of the Ebonyi State government.
He added that if re-elected, he intends to establish a high standard of representation that would be difficult for future lawmakers to surpass.
Projects commissioned and inspected during the event included road infrastructure, classroom buildings, and solar streetlights across parts of the district.
