The Ebonyi State Police Command has successfully neutralised a notorious criminal kingpin, Isaiah Okoronkwo, who had been terrorising Iyonu community in Ishielu Local.
According to SP Joshua Ukandu, the command’s spokesperson, the breakthrough came through the efforts of the Crack Squad operatives during a clearance operation on August 29, 2025, at the criminals’ hideout in Iyonu Forest.
Ukandu revealed that Okoronkwo, who had been on the police wanted list for a long time, was neutralised after engaging operatives in a gun battle. Two AK-47 rifles were recovered during the operation.
The Commissioner of Police, Adaku Uche-Anya, commended the officers for their professionalism, courage, and intelligence-led policing. She further assured Ebonyi residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
This development marks another major milestone in the police’s sustained onslaught against violent crimes and rising armed robbery incidents in Ebonyi.
