Senate Deputy Whip Nwebonyi Urges Ebonyians to Support APC Ahead of Elections

Date:

The Deputy Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate and Senator representing Ebonyi North, Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, has called on residents of Ebonyi State to continue supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) in upcoming elections.

Nwebonyi made the appeal on Thursday during the APC Mega Rally and grand finale of the 2026 Local Government Election Campaign held in Iboko, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The senator assured Ebonyians that their continued support for the APC would not be taken for granted, while highlighting the developmental achievements recorded under Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

According to him, the governor’s projects and policies across Ebonyi State have strengthened the APC’s position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Nwebonyi specifically cited Governor Nwifuru’s overseas scholarship programme, road construction projects, royal palace renovations and other infrastructure developments across the state as evidence of the administration’s achievements.

He also highlighted projects implemented within Ebonyi North Senatorial District, including concrete roads, scholarships for more than 930 students, housing support for widows and vulnerable residents, solar-powered streetlights and potable water projects.

He said the impact of these constituency projects would help demonstrate his commitment to the people while campaigning for the APC.

The Senate Deputy Chief Whip also commended Governor Nwifuru for promoting women’s participation in political leadership. He particularly praised the APC for selecting Mrs Nnenna Helen Aduga as its chairmanship candidate for Izzi Local Government Area.

Nwebonyi subsequently urged residents of Izzi LGA to turn out in large numbers on Saturday and vote for all APC candidates in the local government election.

Also speaking at the event, the Director-General of the Ebonyi State Broadcasting Corporation, Tony Nwizi, urged Aduga to make rural development a priority if elected.

Nwizi identified rural road construction, access to potable water, shelter for elderly residents and peacebuilding as key areas requiring attention. He noted that better rural roads would improve the transportation of agricultural produce and boost economic activities across Izzi.

He further encouraged Aduga to consolidate peace and ensure that government development reaches communities throughout the local government area.

The APC mega rally was attended by Deputy Governor Princess Patricia Obila, who represented Governor Nwifuru; State APC Chairman Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha; local government chairmen; Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters Chief Uchenna Igwe; Commissioner for Health Chief Moses Ikenna Ekuma; Chief Edward Nkweg; traditional rulers; religious leaders; campaign officials; support groups and a large gathering of APC supporters.
