In a remarkable gesture of community development, Hon. Uzor Tochukwu Okorie, Ebonyi State’s Commissioner for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), has extended scholarships to 10 underprivileged students for tertiary education.
The announcement came during a Thanksgiving event in Okorie’s hometown, Okposi Okwu, Ohaozara Local Government Area. The occasion, organized to express gratitude for divine blessings over the past year, was attended by dignitaries such as Barr. Chioma Nweze, Senior Special Assistant to President Ahmed Tinubu on Community Engagement (South East), among others.
Hon. Okorie also enrolled 50 individuals, including pregnant women, children, and the elderly, into the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency (EBSHIA), guaranteeing them free healthcare for one year. Beneficiaries were selected across the four wards of Okposi based on their support for the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru and Hon. Minister David Umahi.
Calling for continued community backing of the governor’s health and education programs, Okorie emphasized the importance of reaching rural dwellers with the dividends of democracy.
Key speakers, including Barr. Nweze and Hon. Consider Chinonso Aja, Chairman of Ohaozara LGA, lauded the Commissioner for his efforts in alleviating hardship and commended Governor Nwifuru’s dedication to statewide development.
Adding a spiritual touch, Archbishop Godswill Onyeuwama Omoke of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria urged Christians to remain anchored in their faith, noting that true success stems from God’s guidance. He praised Hon. Okorie’s ICT-driven development initiatives and the governor’s visionary leadership.
