The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Project Monitoring, Mr Felix Igboke, has resigned from his position and defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Igboke announced his decision on Sunday at a PDP gathering in Isu, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, where he was welcomed by party leaders, executives, and supporters.
The former APC chieftain disclosed that he joined the PDP alongside more than 10,000 supporters, describing the move as a “homecoming” to the political platform where his career began.
According to him, his return to the PDP was driven by his desire to support a party he believes can promote development, represent the interests of the people, and strengthen inclusive governance in Ebonyi State.
“I am delighted to return to the political family that shaped my journey. I served as a councillor, development centre coordinator, and chairman of Onicha Local Government Area under the PDP before joining the APC,” Igboke said.
He expressed appreciation to the PDP leadership in Ebonyi, particularly the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma-Odii, whom he described as the incoming governor.
The Ebonyi PDP Chairman, Mr Chukwuma Igwe, welcomed Igboke and the thousands of defectors, describing the development as a major boost for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Igwe said the PDP had continued to regain its footing across Ebonyi State and was prepared to compete strongly in the next election cycle.
He added that the growing number of supporters joining the party reflected increasing confidence in the PDP’s leadership and political direction.
Also speaking at the event, PDP candidate for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency in the 2027 elections, Mr Eni-Uduma Chima, said the party’s support base was expanding rapidly across the state.
Chima expressed optimism that the renewed support for the PDP would translate into electoral success, urging members to remain united and committed to strengthening the party at the grassroots.
The defection event was attended by PDP supporters, community leaders, and party stakeholders from different parts of Ebonyi State.
