President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially declared a nationwide security emergency, authorising massive recruitment into the Nigerian Army and Police Force in response to rising insecurity across the country. The declaration is contained in newly released official documents from the Presidency dated November 26, 2025.

Major Highlights from the Presidential Declaration
- According to the documents:
- The police will recruit an additional 20,000 officers, bringing total new intakes to 50,000.
- The Army is also authorised to recruit fresh personnel immediately.
- Officers withdrawn from VIP escorts will undergo crash retraining and be reassigned to security-challenged regions.
- NYSC camps across the country are now authorised to serve as police training depots.
- The DSS has been directed to deploy forest guards and intensify operations against terrorists and bandits hiding in forests.
- State governments with local security outfits will receive federal support to protect their citizens.
Although the recent attacks occurred in states such as Kebbi, Kwara, Niger, Borno, Zamfara, and Yobe, the emergency applies to every state, including Ebonyi. This means Ebonyi may experience increased security presence, tighter protection around schools and worship centres, and closer cooperation between federal and state security outfits.
President Tinubu urged Nigerians to stay calm, remain vigilant, and support security agencies. He also sympathised with families affected by recent tragic incidents and commended the armed forces for their ongoing operations.
