Nigerian philanthropist and entrepreneur, Cornelius Oroke, has officially launched the Eleemosy Empowerment and Relief Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to empowering women and youths in Ebonyi State and across Nigeria.
The foundation was unveiled on September 20, 2025, at the Real Exclusive Palace in Abakaliki, drawing top government officials, business leaders, and community stakeholders. Dignitaries in attendance included representatives from the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Martin Okwuegbu (Special Adviser to the Governor on Internally Generated Revenue), and several notable entrepreneurs.
Speaking at the launch, Cornelius Oroke, Founder and President of the foundation, said the initiative was inspired by the untapped potential of young people and women who lack access to funding and education. “Many possess incredible skills but are held back by financial barriers. The Eleemosy Foundation exists to bridge that gap through structured support that leads to financial independence and academic excellence,” he stated.
Registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on May 7, 2025, the Eleemosy Empowerment and Relief Foundation focuses on three core pillars:
- Skill Acquisition: Sponsoring vocational training aligned with market needs.
- Seed Capital: Providing start-up funds for trained beneficiaries to establish small businesses.
- Academic Scholarships: Supporting exceptional but disadvantaged students with financial aid.
In the coming weeks, the foundation will roll out outreach programs and mentorship initiatives across Ebonyi State and beyond, with a long-term goal of expanding nationwide.
The name “Eleemosy” is derived from eleemosynary, meaning charitable, reflecting the foundation’s mission to uplift under-served communities.
The foundation is calling on the public, development partners, and stakeholders to collaborate in creating sustainable opportunities for Nigerian youths and women.
