An officer of Ebonyi origin, Inspector Pascal Okpabi, has died while serving under the Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) Joint Task Force in Yobe State.
Okpabi, who was attached to the 5 PMF Benin, reportedly collapsed while on duty at the 233 Battalion in Damaturu on Saturday, May 4, around 4:50 p.m.
According to a post shared by counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama via his verified X handle, the officer was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu, where he was diagnosed with a partial stroke linked to high blood pressure. He was confirmed dead around 4:30 p.m. the same day while receiving treatment.
The Unit Commander, ASP Ogwouno Ekene, under whom Inspector Okpabi was serving, officially reported the incident.
Inspector Okpabi, a native of Ebonyi State, is being mourned by colleagues and loved ones. His family has been notified, and burial arrangements are currently underway.
