A female police officer who was reportedly kidnapped in Ebonyi State has been found dead following the arrest of a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate.
The suspect allegedly led police operatives to the location where the officer’s remains were discovered during an intelligence-led investigation into her abduction.
The Nigeria Police Force disclosed the development in its latest nationwide operational update covering security operations conducted between September 19 and 20, 2026.
According to the police, the suspect was apprehended during an investigation supported by intelligence gathering and technology-driven crime tracking.
Following his arrest, the suspect reportedly took a combined team of police operatives to the location of the crime, where the remains of the kidnapped female officer were recovered.
The police said the investigation has been taken over by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
