The Ebonyi South Youth Assembly has responded to a statement allegedly circulated online by former Ebonyi State government Special Assistant, Chief Emmanuel Igwe, accusing him of attempting to introduce kindred politics into Izzi ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The youth group said Igwe’s comments could create unnecessary tension among the people of Izzi and urged residents to disregard what it described as misinformation and political propaganda.
In a statement issued in Abakaliki, National President of the Ebonyi South Youth Assembly, Odii Njoku, said the organisation initially had no intention of responding to Igwe’s remarks but was compelled to do so to clarify the situation and prevent the alleged misinformation from causing division.
Igwe had reportedly claimed that the Unwueru Kindred had decided to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 elections.
However, Njoku rejected the claim, saying the people of Unwueru Kindred remained satisfied with the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru and had continued to support his re-election bid.
The youth leader also questioned Igwe’s authority to speak on behalf of the Izzi people, alleging that he was not from Izzi and should instead focus on political mobilisation within his Ezzagu community.
According to the group, Izzi has historically been a peaceful and hospitable community, and political differences should not be allowed to create divisions among its people.
“Let him concentrate on his Ezzagu community and tell the people what his preferred candidate has to offer,” the statement said.

The group alleged that his activities while serving as Special Assistant on Park Development generated controversy and contributed to divisions in some areas.
It further alleged that his tenure as Special Assistant on Land Development was associated with controversial land-related activities and claimed that some individuals were left stranded following financial transactions.
The youth body did not provide independent evidence for the allegations contained in its statement.
The group also criticised Igwe’s alleged efforts to promote the PDP governorship candidate on social media while, according to it, failing to return to his community to directly engage voters.
The Ebonyi South Youth Assembly challenged Igwe to return from Abuja to Ezzagu and demonstrate his political support at his polling unit ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Let him come to Ebonyi State and campaign for his candidate. Let him tell the people what his candidate will do for them instead of making statements from Abuja,” the group said.
The youth organisation urged the people of Izzi to reject what it described as political propaganda and continue supporting Governor Francis Nwifuru, citing his administration’s infrastructure and human capital development projects across Ebonyi State.
It also praised Governor Nwifuru and Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi for what it described as effective representation and contributions to the development of Ebonyi.
“Apart from his developmental strides which cut across the three senatorial zones in the state, the Governor has shown commitment in addressing some of the challenges facing Izzi Clan,” Njoku said.
He added that Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi had demonstrated what he described as “capacity, trust and true representation” of his senatorial district and the Izzi people.
The Ebonyi South Youth Assembly maintained that political disagreements should not be allowed to undermine peace and unity in Izzi or trigger unnecessary conflict ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group called on political actors and residents to focus on issues affecting the people rather than allowing political differences to create divisions within the community.
