Ebonyi Leads South-East in Ongoing Voter Registration Exercise – APC Chairman

Date:

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, has stated that Ebonyi currently records the highest level of voter registration in the South-East region as the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise gathers momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Emegha made the disclosure while speaking with journalists in Abakaliki following a stakeholders’ meeting of the APC. He attributed the state’s performance to coordinated efforts by party leaders, local government officials, and community stakeholders working to increase voter participation across Ebonyi.

According to him, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) responded to concerns about inadequate registration equipment by providing additional voter registration machines to the state.

He explained that the extra machines have been distributed to various local government areas to ease the registration process and accommodate the growing number of residents seeking to register.

“We approached INEC headquarters for additional registration machines because the initial allocation was insufficient for the volume of people turning out across the state. The commission approved our request, and the machines have already been deployed,” Emegha said.

The APC chairman noted that local government chairmen, educational institutions, and community leaders are actively mobilizing eligible voters, including individuals who may face challenges accessing their designated registration centres.

He added that outreach teams have been deployed to different locations within the state to ensure that more residents are captured in the voter register.

Emegha emphasized that the voter registration campaign is not driven by political affiliation but by the need to increase Ebonyi State’s electoral strength and representation.

“Our priority is to ensure that every eligible resident registers and obtains a Permanent Voter Card (PVC). It is not about which political party anyone supports. We want Ebonyi to have a strong voter base and be adequately represented whenever national figures are being considered,” he said.

He further maintained that Ebonyi remains ahead of other South-East states in the ongoing registration exercise, expressing confidence that stakeholders would sustain the momentum until the exercise concludes.

The APC chairman urged all eligible citizens who have not yet registered to take advantage of the ongoing INEC voter registration exercise and secure their PVCs ahead of future elections.
