Ebonyi Community Celebrates Excellence with Chieftaincy Titles

Date:

Dr. Simon Igwe-Iroh, a distinguished broadcast journalist in Ebonyi State, has been recognized for his contributions to society with the chieftaincy title Ugwu Ogo 1 of Utumakpa Kingdom (The Pride of Utumakpa Kingdom).

The honor was conferred during a ceremony led by the community’s traditional ruler, Ama Otuu Uzor, who acknowledged Dr. Igwe-Iroh and other notable individuals for their positive impact. Among the honorees were Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, the Ebonyi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Chief Iduma Igariwey, the representative for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.

The traditional ruler expressed gratitude to God, Governor Francis Nwifuru, and the people for their unwavering support. He also commended Igwe-Iroh for his steadfastness during challenging times and pledged to lead the Owutu people with peace and inclusivity.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Igwe-Iroh attributed the recognition to divine intervention, particularly in securing a recognized traditional ruler for the community following the passing of Utumakpa IX. He urged the ruler to embrace reconciliation and forgiveness and to involve the people in addressing challenges.
