The Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ebonyi State, Prince Enyinnaya Alum Udensi, has dismissed reports of the resignation of some former party executives, insisting that they had already been suspended before making their purported exit from the party.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Udensi described the resignation claims as an attempt to divert attention from disciplinary actions taken against the affected officials by the party leadership.
According to him, the suspended executives are currently under investigation following allegations of financial misconduct, violation of the party’s constitution, and other actions considered detrimental to the interests of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Ebonyi State.
Udensi explained that the party had formally lodged complaints against the officials shortly after the primary elections, citing what he described as serious acts of misconduct.
“The NDC in Ebonyi State had, following the party primaries, submitted petitions against the affected principal officers over various allegations and gross misconduct. The National Working Committee (NWC) is already considering the establishment of an investigative panel to examine the claims and determine the appropriate course of action,” he stated.
The state chairman further noted that the resignation letters reportedly submitted by the former executives came after the party had already suspended them pending the outcome of investigations.
He called on the National Working Committee of the NDC to conduct a thorough and transparent inquiry into the allegations and ensure that all decisions are made in accordance with the party’s constitution and disciplinary procedures.
The development has sparked fresh discussions within Ebonyi political circles, as stakeholders continue to monitor the internal crisis unfolding within the Nigeria Democratic Congress ahead of future political activities in the state.
