Former member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Maria Ude Nwachi, has officially declared her intention to contest for the Ebonyi South Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), promising purposeful, people-oriented representation.
Nwachi, who represented Ebonyi North-East Constituency between 2015 and 2019, said her decision to join the senatorial race is driven by her long-standing commitment to public service and her desire to improve the welfare of her constituents.
Popularly known as MUN, the former lawmaker and social media personality is known for her strong grassroots influence, having previously won her House of Assembly seat on a lesser-known political platform, a feat that boosted her political profile across Ebonyi State.
Speaking after her official declaration, Nwachi emphasized that leadership must be assessed by tangible impact on the lives of the people.
She stated: “As a community-driven person, I have all it takes to offer the people a special kind of representation in the National Assembly that will positively impact their lives.
“I possess the competence, credibility and capacity to deliver results. Leadership must be measured by its impact on the people.
“I am contesting this election to touch lives, liberate my people and unify them. I am running to restore transparency and accountability in the zone, and I cannot do it alone without the support of the people.”
Nwachi also revealed plans to release her campaign manifesto and begin wider consultations with party stakeholders and constituents across Ebonyi South ahead of the elections.
Her entry into the senatorial race has already generated political interest within Ebonyi South Senatorial District, with supporters describing her candidacy as one that could strengthen inclusive and responsive representation in the region.
As part of her consultations, she recently visited Abuja-based media consultant Alex Nwankwo, also known as AlexReports, where she sought support and prayers for her political ambition.
