The Ebonyi NYSC Orientation Camp is hosted inside MacGregor College, situated in Afikpo Local Government Area. The facility operates within a school environment, so expect classrooms, hostel-style dormitories, open fields, and the general outlook of an academic institution, rather than the standard NYSC-constructed camp architecture.
From Abakaliki, the state capital, the camp is approximately 63.5 kilometres away, with a travel time of about 1 hour and 10–15 minutes by road. Afikpo — also called Ehugbo — is known for its slightly hilly terrain, so prepare for mild elevations along the road, especially if you’re travelling with heavy luggage.
For new corps members arriving in the state, it is advisable to get to Afikpo town first before proceeding to the camp gate. The final stretch is usually completed using motorcycles (okadas), which are readily available at Afikpo junction. To avoid being dropped off far from the camp, clearly tell drivers and bus operators: “NYSC Camp, MacGregor College, Afikpo.”
Due to the hilly environment and reliance on okadas for last-mile movement, secure your bags properly during transit and avoid arriving late at night for safety reasons.
