Commercial Bus Catches Fire at Echemas Filling Station in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State

Date:

A severe fire incident occurred today at Echemas Filling Station in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, where a commercial bus was completely gutted by flames.

Eyewitnesses said the Abakaliki fire incident began when the driver allegedly left his ignition on while refueling. The safety lapse reportedly caused an immediate spark, leading to a full-blown fuel station fire that quickly engulfed the vehicle and nearby areas.

The driver, who was caught in the explosion, sustained serious burns. Quick-thinking bystanders intervened, dragging him away from the burning bus and rolling him on the ground to put out the flames before the Ebonyi State Fire Service arrived.

He is currently receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital, while the commercial bus was destroyed beyond repair.

The tragic incident has raised renewed concerns about safety compliance at fuel stations across Nigeria, with residents urging motorists to follow proper refueling procedures to prevent future disasters.
