The Ebonyi State Police Command has distributed cheques totaling over N69 million to 41 recipients, including next-of-kin to deceased police officers and injured personnel in the state. The presentation was made by Commissioner of Police Augustina Ogbodo on behalf of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun on Friday in Abakaliki.
Ogbodo, represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Mohammed Mohammed, explained, “These cheques, totaling N69,246,803.75k, are for 41 beneficiaries who are next-of-kin to deceased police officers and for police officers serving in Ebonyi who were injured in the line of duty.”
She added that the payment represents a claim settlement from Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and the IGP Family Welfare Insurance Scheme. Ogbodo expressed condolences to the families of the deceased officers and encouraged the injured officers to continue their service, emphasizing the IGP’s commitment to their welfare.
She advised the recipients to use the funds wisely, especially for their children’s education. Augustine Etim, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the Inspector-General of Police and pledged to use the money for the benefit of their families.
