Nwifuru Steps Aside, Obila Emerges as Ebonyi’s First Female Acting Governor

Date:

Ebonyi State Deputy Governor, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, has assumed office as the Acting Governor of the state.

The development follows Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s annual leave, during which, in line with constitutional provisions, Princess Patricia Obila has been entrusted with overseeing the affairs of Ebonyi State until his return.

In a press release, Obila assured Ebonyians of continuity in governance and pledged her commitment to sustaining the policies and projects of the Nwifuru administration. She urged residents to remain law-abiding and supportive of the state government, emphasizing that the ongoing development strides will not lose momentum under her watch.

Princess Obila’s assumption of duty as Acting Governor marks a significant moment in Ebonyi’s political history, as she joins the ranks of women steering the affairs of state governance, even if temporarily.

Analysts say her elevation underscores the inclusivity of the state government and provides a platform for increased female participation in leadership.

Governor Nwifuru is expected to resume duties upon his return, while Obila will continue to serve in acting capacity until then.
