Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has urged the South East Development Commission (SEDC) to focus on impactful projects that will drive rapid development across the region.
During a meeting with Commission members at his office, Governor Nwifuru emphasized that the establishment of SEDC by the Federal Government represents a major step toward fulfilling the aspirations of South-East leaders and residents. He advised commission members to prioritize meaningful initiatives over frivolous activities, ensuring they leave a lasting legacy of progress.
The governor encouraged South-East state governors to collaborate with SEDC and create an enabling environment for development projects.
Representing the Commission’s Managing Director, Hon. Mark Okoye, the Executive Director of Commerce and Industrial Development, Sen. Anthony Agbo, highlighted SEDC’s ambitious plans. These include fostering inter-state partnerships, harmonizing policies, and working toward a $200 billion economy by 2025 through investments in infrastructure, energy, technology, and business development.
Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Emeka Wogu, assured that SEDC is committed to closing the region’s development gaps and positioning the South-East for sustainable progress.
With strategic collaboration and effective leadership, the South-East region is poised for transformative growth.
