As the rainy season approaches, Ebonyi State residents brace for the usual struggles—flooded streets, erosion, and impassable roads. While major roads may have seen improvements, some inner streets remain in terrible condition. Areas like Oversea, Presco Campus, and parts of Abakaliki, where many Ebonyi State University students reside, are in dire need of attention.
Now, with road construction contracts just signed, one has to wonder—will this bring relief or more hardship? If construction begins now, the rains might turn these sites into muddy death traps, worsening an already dire situation.
The government must act fast—either expedite construction or implement temporary flood control measures. Because when the rains come, delays and excuses won’t stop the flood.
