Ebonyi State University Adopts Cashless System to Curb Financial Leaks

Date:

Chigozie Ogbu, the Professor and Vice-Chancellor of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, has announced the implementation of a cashless system within the university to combat financial leakages. Speaking at a media chat ahead of the university’s 12th-15th Convocation ceremony scheduled for April 20th, 2024, Ogbu highlighted the transition to a centralized payment system through the school portal, effectively reducing financial discrepancies.

Under the new system, all transactions are processed digitally through the university portal, streamlining processes and minimizing financial losses. Additionally, the introduction of a one-point registration system facilitates hassle-free online course registration, matriculation number generation, and access to results.

Ogbu also disclosed ongoing efforts to digitize student and personnel records, enhancing data processing efficiency and expediting transcript issuance. While advocating for improved educational infrastructure in Nigeria, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the pivotal role of well-equipped educational systems in nurturing future leaders.

Furthermore, reports from BusinessDay indicate that Ebonyi State University is progressing towards a paperless environment through a collaboration with KSMART SOLUTIONS INTERNATIONAL LTD, a leading educational technology firm headquartered in New York, USA. This partnership aims to revolutionize transcript provision, ensuring seamless access for students and graduates. With KSMART SOLUTIONS’ innovative technology, transcripts can be retrieved and forwarded to institutions of choice with just a click.
