Ebonyi Leaders Unite as Former Governor Celebrates Birthday

Date:

After a prolonged period of discord, key figures in Ebonyi State, including Governor Francis Nwifuru, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, and former governors Sam Egwu, David Umahi, and Martin Elechi, appear to have reconciled their differences.

Their absence from joint public engagements ended on Tuesday, as they congregated to celebrate the 83rd birthday of former governor Elechi in Abakaliki, an event organized by the Ebonyi State Government.

The gathering, held at the Christian Ecumenical Centre, attracted a diverse array of personalities from both near and far.

Addressing the assembly, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim, who chaired the occasion, hailed Elechi as a pivotal, steadfast, and unwavering pioneer of the state, credited with fostering its unity.

“Chief Elechi’s tenure as Governor of Ebonyi State was not merely an obligation; it was a selfless commitment to the welfare of the Ebonyi people,” remarked Anyim.

Former governor Egwu, also in attendance, praised Elechi’s leadership during his gubernatorial tenure, emphasizing his instrumental role in the state’s founding and development.

In a similar vein, Elechi’s successor and current Minister of Works, Umahi, hailed him as a seasoned administrator who imparted invaluable lessons in governance.

Governor Nwifuru expressed the state’s gratitude for Elechi’s contributions, lauding his leadership style and venerable status as a respected elder statesman.

Elechi, in response, expressed gratitude for the event organized in his honor by Governor Nwifuru, acknowledging it as a meaningful gesture. He pledged continued support for Nwifuru’s administration, commending the governor’s governance approach as a new chapter for Ebonyi State.
