The Nationwide League One (NLO) has awarded three points and three goals to Jaguar FC following the disruption of their match against Abakaliki Feeders at the Pa Ngele Oruta Stadium in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
The league encounter was reportedly interrupted after some supporters of the home side invaded the pitch, forcing match officials to walk off over security concerns during the game played on Wednesday.
According to reports, the referees later returned after a lengthy delay before awarding a late penalty to Abakaliki Feeders, a decision that sparked reactions from football fans and stakeholders.
Reacting to the incident on Thursday, the NLO described the development as an embarrassment, especially as the match was broadcast live.
The league body, citing Article 4:3(1) of its regulations, awarded Jaguar FC three points and three goals over the abandoned fixture.
The NLO also fined Abakaliki Feeders N500,000 and ordered the Ebonyi club to settle the fine before taking part in its next match of the ongoing season.
The decision further reflects the league’s commitment to ensuring discipline, security, and fair play in Nigerian football.
