2027 Politics: Umahi’s Ally Christian Nwali Resigns from APC in Ebonyi

Date:

Chief Christian Nwali, a prominent ally of Minister of Works, David Umahi, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State ahead of the 2027 political season.

Nwali, who previously declared interest in contesting for the Ebonyi Central Senatorial District seat, confirmed his resignation in a letter addressed to the APC chairman of Ekpelu Ward in Ikwo Local Government Area.

According to reports, the former APC chieftain was among aspirants allegedly sidelined during the party’s consensus arrangement adopted for the APC primary elections in Ebonyi State.

In the resignation letter, Nwali stated that his decision takes immediate effect, describing it as a personal move made after careful consideration.

“This decision is personal and made after careful reflection. I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences I had during my time in the party,” part of the letter read.

He further noted that the letter should serve as formal notice of his withdrawal from all party activities and responsibilities.

When contacted over the reasons behind his exit from the APC and his next political move, Nwali declined to provide additional comments.

“There is no need for such clarifications,” he reportedly stated.

The development is expected to stir fresh conversations within Ebonyi politics as preparations for the 2027 general elections gradually gather momentum.
