Abakaliki FC head coach, Starplus Izuikem Anistar, has expressed confidence in his team’s push for promotion in the 2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, despite concerns over key upcoming fixtures.
The “Rice Boys” are set to face tough opponents, including Ekiti United, Solution FC, Calabar Rovers, and Akwa United, in their final matches of the NNL campaign.
Speaking ahead of the decisive fixtures, Anistar identified the away clash against Ekiti United as the most challenging hurdle in Abakaliki FC’s promotion race.
According to the Abakaliki FC manager, the long-distance trip to Ado Ekiti could significantly impact the team’s performance, making it a critical fixture in their quest for promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
“We have four matches left in the NNL season, and three of them are away games—against Ekiti United, Akwa United, Solution FC, and Calabar Rovers,” Anistar said.
“My major concern is the trip to Ado Ekiti to face Ekiti United. However, aside from that, I am confident in our squad’s ability to compete strongly and secure positive results as we remain focused on achieving promotion.”
Currently, Abakaliki FC sits fourth on the NNL Conference B table with 22 points from 14 matches, keeping their promotion hopes alive as the season approaches its final stage.
With crucial fixtures ahead, the club will need consistent performances to secure a top spot and advance in the highly competitive Nigeria National League.
