Her Excellency, Her Ladyship Mary-Maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru, the wife of the Governor of Ebonyi State, has been honored with the prestigious “Better Life Champion for Women, Children, and Youth Empowerment Award” by the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), South-East Zone.
The award was presented during a special recognition ceremony organized by NAWOJ to celebrate women making remarkable contributions to society. According to the leadership of NAWOJ South-East, Mrs. Nwifuru was chosen for her genuine commitment to advancing gender equality, promoting quality healthcare, supporting education, empowering rural women, and championing youth development across Ebonyi State.
Her outstanding initiatives, particularly through the Better Health for Rural Women, Children, and Internally Displaced Persons Foundation (BERWO), have continued to make a positive impact on vulnerable groups in both rural and urban communities.
In her acceptance speech, Her Excellency expressed gratitude to NAWOJ for the recognition and reaffirmed her dedication to sustaining her people-centered projects.
“This award is a call to do more. It is not about me alone but about every woman, child, and youth in Ebonyi who deserves the opportunity to achieve their full potential. I commend NAWOJ for recognizing the efforts of women in leadership, and I pledge to remain committed to the empowerment and wellbeing of our people,” she said.
The award further establishes Mrs. Mary-Maudline Nwifuru as a leading advocate for women empowerment, youth development, and social inclusion in Ebonyi State and the South-East region.
