FG Launches Nutrition 774 Initiative to Tackle Malnutrition in Ebonyi and Beyond

Date:

The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled the Nutrition 774 Initiative, a nationwide program aimed at addressing malnutrition in Ebonyi State and other parts of the country. The initiative was officially launched by Vice President Kashim Shettima during the 148th National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, with key government officials and stakeholders in attendance.

The Nutrition 774 Initiative is designed to improve nutrition and public health, particularly for children and vulnerable groups. Vice President Shettima emphasized that the program aligns with the government’s commitment to reducing child malnutrition in Ebonyi and across Nigeria, ensuring that citizens have access to healthy, nutritious food.

“This program is essential for growth, development, and overall health,” he stated. “Good nutrition strengthens the immune system, supports a healthy body, and reduces the risk of chronic diseases.”

Malnutrition remains a pressing issue in Nigeria, with Ebonyi State among the affected regions. Poor nutrition has been linked to high infant and maternal mortality rates, stunted growth, and weakened immune systems. The Nutrition 774 Initiative will be implemented across all 774 local government areas (LGAs), including the 13 LGAs of Ebonyi State, to ensure that communities benefit from improved nutrition programs.

The initiative is part of the Federal Government’s broader plan to enhance healthcare, economic development, and food security in Nigeria. Experts believe that tackling malnutrition in Ebonyi and other states will not only improve public health but also boost economic productivity.

The government has called on stakeholders, including the Ebonyi State Government, local health agencies, and private sector partners, to support the initiative for its successful implementation. With the launch of Nutrition 774, Ebonyi is set to benefit from renewed efforts to enhance nutrition, health, and well-being for its residents.
