The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has elected Mrs. Lucy Nwodom as its governorship candidate for the 2027 Ebonyi State governorship election following the party’s primary held in Abakaliki on Thursday.
In the same exercise, Chief Chikodiri Ojemba emerged as the APGA senatorial candidate for Ebonyi North Senatorial District, setting the stage for a major political contest ahead of the 2027 general elections in Ebonyi State.
The results of the primaries were announced by the Ebonyi State Chairman of APGA, who disclosed that both candidates were returned unopposed after receiving unanimous support from party delegates and members.
According to the party leadership, the primary election was peaceful, transparent, and free of internal disputes, reflecting APGA’s commitment to democratic principles and credible leadership in Ebonyi politics.
The chairman urged the newly elected candidates to begin grassroots mobilization and issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections, emphasizing the party’s determination to provide quality leadership for the people of Ebonyi State.
Speaking after her emergence, APGA governorship candidate Mrs. Lucy Nwodom expressed gratitude to party members for entrusting her with the party’s ticket.
She pledged to run an inclusive and people-oriented campaign focused on development, unity, and improved welfare for residents of Ebonyi State.
“I appreciate the confidence reposed in me by the party. My ambition is driven by a passion to build a better Ebonyi where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive,” she said.
On his part, Chief Chikodiri Ojemba, the APGA candidate for Ebonyi North Senatorial District, called on his supporters to avoid hate campaigns and maintain peaceful political engagement throughout the election period.
“I stand before you not as a rival, but as a credible alternative committed to delivering effective representation for Ebonyi North under the platform of APGA,” Ojemba stated.
Ojemba noted that his decision to contest the senatorial seat followed extensive consultations with stakeholders, party leaders, youths, and community representatives across Abakaliki, Izzi, Ebonyi, and Ohaukwu local government areas.
He explained that encouragement from constituents motivated him to seek election into the National Assembly to provide purposeful leadership and people-focused representation.
The APGA senatorial candidate promised to prioritize youth empowerment, employment opportunities for graduates, agricultural development, education, entrepreneurship support, and infrastructural expansion if elected.
“I am committed to working with relevant institutions to create jobs for young people, empower women, support small businesses, and unlock the agricultural potential of our communities,” he said.
Ojemba also pledged to promote quality education, mentorship initiatives, and constituency projects that would positively impact lives across Ebonyi North Senatorial District.
He assured voters that his campaign would remain peaceful, development-driven, and focused on practical solutions rather than political attacks.
“As a businessman and young leader, my focus will be on youth-centered policies, sustainable development, and responsible representation,” Ojemba added.
He appealed to residents of Ebonyi North to support his candidacy ahead of the 2027 senatorial election, expressing confidence in APGA’s vision for the district and Ebonyi State at large.
