The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has re-elected Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha as the State Chairman during its State Congress held in Abakaliki.
Alongside Okoro-Emegha, Hon. Chinedu Alphonsus Nwali was returned as State Deputy Chairman, while Chief Charles Chukwuma Ofoke retained his position as State Secretary. A total of 36 members of the APC State Working Committee (SWC) secured another four-year term.
The congress took place at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki, where party officials emerged through a consensus arrangement in accordance with the APC constitution and congress guidelines. All positions were filled unopposed.
The motion adopting the consensus process was moved by Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District and Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate. It was seconded by the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Moses Ije Odunwa.
Speaking at the event, Ebonyi State Governor and APC leader in the state, Francis Nwifuru, praised President Bola Tinubu for what he described as stabilizing leadership that has strengthened the APC nationwide and positioned it strategically for victory in the 2027 general elections.
Governor Nwifuru also applauded party stakeholders in Ebonyi for reaffirming their confidence in the State Working Committee under Okoro-Emegha’s leadership.
In a significant political development, the governor disclosed that all members of the National Assembly and Ebonyi State House of Assembly from the state are now members of the APC, consolidating the party’s dominance in Ebonyi politics.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha expressed appreciation to Governor Nwifuru and party leaders for their continued trust in the SWC. He assured party members of his commitment to promoting unity, advancing party interests, and supporting the governor’s administration.
He emphasized that the renewed mandate would be used to strengthen the APC structure across Ebonyi State and maintain cohesion ahead of future elections.
Chairperson of the APC Electoral Committee, Rt. Hon. Rita Maduagwu, stated that the consensus arrangement strictly followed the APC constitution and guidelines governing state congresses.
