Ikwo LGA Chairman Commends Army’s Role in Regional Stability

Date:

The Nigerian military has been recognized for its impactful efforts in restoring peace and security in Ebonyi State and the broader South-East region.

Barr. Sunday Nwankwo, Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, commended the Forward Operating Base (FOB) under Operation UDO KA for its significant role in maintaining order. According to him, the presence of the FOB has fostered stability and enhanced governance within the community. He also expressed gratitude to the Defence Headquarters for deploying competent personnel to the area.

Reflecting on past challenges, Hon. Daniel Ogiji, a former council chairman, highlighted the FOB’s critical role in resolving conflicts, such as border disputes and IPOB-related tensions. He called for more resources, particularly rugged vehicles, to aid the military in managing difficult terrains.

Local residents echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the peace and stability the military has brought to their communities. Deaconess Angelina Ogboji described their presence as transformative, while Dr. Sam Ude urged the federal government to continue supporting the base with advanced patrol equipment.

The military’s presence in Ikwo has not only improved security but also strengthened collaboration between local authorities and residents, ensuring the region continues to thrive.
