Strengthening Ties: Mary-Maudaline Nwifuru Seeks UK Collaboration in Key Sectors

The First Lady of Ebonyi State, Chief Mary-Maudaline Nwifuru, welcomed the British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ms. Gill Lever, during her visit to Centenary City, Abakaliki. Mrs. Nwifuru emphasized opportunities for collaboration in agriculture, education, healthcare, and infrastructure, stating, “Ebonyi State is a land of potential and promise.”

She highlighted her foundation, Better Health for Rural Women, Children, and Internally Displaced Persons (BERWO), which tackles poverty, healthcare, education, and gender-based violence. Stressing the importance of gender inclusion, she said, “The deliberate inclusion of women…has fostered a culture of productivity, transparency, and accountability.”

The Deputy High Commissioner praised Mrs. Nwifuru’s initiatives and acknowledged the governor’s strides in empowering women, urging for greater female representation to drive sustainable development. The meeting included female government appointees, showcasing Ebonyi State’s commitment to women’s roles in governance.
