In a major boost to academic development and higher education standards in Nigeria, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) has received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for 10 academic programmes.
The accreditation milestone reflects the university’s continued commitment to academic excellence, quality education, and institutional growth.
The accreditation exercise, conducted by the NUC in October and November 2025, was carried out under the provisions of the Education Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation 2024. The law empowers the commission to establish minimum academic standards and assess academic programmes offered in Nigerian universities.
The fully accredited programmes include:
- Business Administration
- Criminology and Security Studies
- Public Administration
- Education Automobile Technology
- Education Building Technology
- Education Economics
- Education Computer Science
- Education Mechanical Technology
- Education Electrical/Electronics Technology
- Education Woodwork Technology
Speaking on the achievement, Daniel Nwachukwu, Vice-Chancellor of the university, described the accreditation as a strong endorsement of the institution’s curriculum quality, staff expertise, and the capacity of its graduates to compete globally.
He further stated that the university remains committed to strengthening academic standards through continuous staff development, upgrading laboratories and libraries, improving quality assurance systems, and promoting excellence within the institution.
The successful accreditation further positions AE-FUNAI among Nigerian universities focused on delivering quality education and maintaining high academic standards.
