Assenting to Disability Rights Bill Will Solve 95% of Challenges – Ebonyi JONAPWD Chairman

Date:

The Ebonyi State Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Mr. Chieme Odumegwu, has emphasized that the Disability Rights Bill, once signed into law, will resolve over 95 percent of the challenges confronting persons with disabilities in the state.

According to him, the bill will safeguard equal rights, ensure access to public services, and protect against discrimination, thereby fostering dignity, inclusiveness, and active participation of persons with disabilities across all sectors of society.

Odumegwu disclosed this in Abakaliki while addressing journalists during the birthday celebration of the Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring, Mrs. Ann Aligwe, at her residence.

He noted that the bill, introduced as an executive bill, has already passed its second reading at the Ebonyi State House of Assembly and is awaiting Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s assent.

Commending Governor Nwifuru for his people-focused governance, the JONAPWD Chairman also appreciated Commissioner Ann Aligwe for her compassionate leadership, which, he said, has positively impacted the lives of persons with disabilities in the state.

In her remarks, Mrs. Aligwe lauded Governor Nwifuru for his humanitarian leadership and unwavering support for inclusive development.
