A 33-year-old woman from Ebonyi State, Blessing Eze, has tragically lost her life in Ogun State after she was allegedly stabbed by a group of touts for refusing to give them money during the recent Eid Mubarak celebration.
Blessing, a mother of two and a dedicated trader, was originally from Mgbom Enu in Mgbom Na Achara Autonomous Community, Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Reports indicate that she was approached by suspected agbero (touts) who demanded what they described as “Sallah money.” Her refusal to comply with their demand allegedly led to a violent attack that claimed her life.
The incident, which took place during the festive season, has sparked outrage among Nigerians both online and offline. Many have condemned the rising cases of extortion and violence linked to touts in parts of the country.
Loved ones and community members have described Blessing as a hardworking and peaceful woman who was focused on supporting her family. Her death has left her children motherless and thrown her family into deep grief.
