Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has introduced the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Agricultural Support Programme in Ebonyi State, targeting women farmers and aspiring young agriculturists.
Mrs. Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, wife of the Ebonyi State Governor and State Coordinator of RHI, represented the First Lady at the event in Abakaliki. The initiative is designed to enhance food security, empower local farmers, and promote sustainable agricultural practices nationwide.
As part of the launch, over 100 women farmers received essential farm inputs, including high-yield seedlings, fertilizers, and agricultural tools to boost productivity. Additionally, the program introduced Young Farmers Clubs in secondary schools, encouraging students to pursue careers in agriculture.
Mrs. Nwifuru highlighted that the initiative aligns with the First Lady’s broader vision of economic empowerment and increased agricultural output. Participants also attended workshops covering modern farming techniques, financial literacy, and agribusiness management to equip them with the skills necessary for long-term success.
This initiative underscores Ebonyi State’s role as a vital agricultural hub in Nigeria, reinforcing its contribution to national food production. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, emphasizing that the support provided would significantly enhance their farming operations and income generation.
