The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, yesterday, joined other party leaders in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, to warmly welcome Governor Pastor Umo Eno into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a brief but symbolic post made after the event, Governor Nwifuru described Pastor Eno’s defection as “a strategic move that will further spring massive development for AkwaIbomites.”
“we were at Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, to joyfully welcome our brother, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno into the progressives family,” Governor Nwifuru posted.
The Ebonyi Governor, a strong pillar in the APC fold, expressed confidence that the defection would open new doors for collaboration, investment, and growth—not just for Akwa Ibom but for the South-South and South-East regions.
He further congratulated both the Akwa Ibom Governor and the APC, describing the move as a win for progressives across Nigeria.
“Congratulations Your Excellency. Congratulations to our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he added.
The development has sparked reactions across the political space, as Pastor Umo Eno’s move from the PDP to the APC marks a significant shift in Akwa Ibom’s political alignment.
As Ebonyians continue to witness the rising influence of Governor Nwifuru on the national stage, his presence at major party events like this highlights Ebonyi State’s growing voice in shaping the direction of national politics.
