Youths Intercept Principal Over Alleged Theft of School Resources

Date:

Concerned youths in Ebonyi State have intercepted the outgoing principal of Federal Government College, Okposi, Mr. Frank Omale, accusing him of carting away school property. He was stopped near Onugo, a community close to the school, with items allegedly taken from the institution in the boot of his SUV.

A leaked video showed the youths displaying the recovered items, which included books, detergents, toiletries, branded towels, food supplies like beans, and stationery. The principal reportedly claimed the items were personal belongings and accused the youths of setting him up.

Fabian, a lawyer and youth leader, alleged that the principal has a history of diverting school resources. He recounted incidents where materials donated for renovations were sold for personal gain and raised concerns over the disappearance of a government-donated commuter bus.

The chairman of Oha-Ozara Local Government Area intervened, leading to the principal’s handover to the Obi Ozara Police Headquarters for further investigation. Fabian noted that similar allegations against the principal had previously been dismissed.

When approached for comment, Mr. Omale admitted being the school’s principal but declined to speak on the allegations, citing his status as a civil servant. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
