The Ebonyi State Police Command has announced another major success in its ongoing campaign against criminal activities across the state.
According to the Command, officers on routine patrol along the Ehamufu–Nkalagu Road on November 12, 2025, intercepted an armed robbery incident and thwarted the attack. The operatives reportedly heard sporadic gunshots and cries for help before rushing to the scene, where they found one Ali Solomon being assaulted by three armed men attempting to steal his motorcycle.
On sighting the police team, the suspects opened fire and fled. The officers returned fire, neutralising one of the robbers. An AK-47 rifle loaded with ten rounds of ammunition was recovered from the scene.
In a related development, the Command also rescued a kidnap victim the following day, November 13, 2025. A kidnapping gang operating around the Ezzangbo area of Ohaukwu Local Government reportedly abducted Obasi ThankGod, tied him up, and hid him inside a hotel toilet while demanding a ₦5 million ransom.
Through coordinated intelligence and swift response, police operatives located the hideout, safely rescued the victim, and arrested three members of the suspected kidnapping syndicate.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Sunday in Abakaliki. He identified the suspects as Uchenna Ogbozuru, Ebuka Ejiogu, and Chizoba Idenyi Ogwa. They are currently in custody and will face prosecution upon the completion of investigations.
Commissioner of Police, CP Adaku Uche-Anya, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to enhancing security across Ebonyi State. She praised residents for consistently providing reliable information and urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts to ensure a safer state.
