“Temper Justice with Mercy” — Tinubu Sends Strong Message to Ebonyi Governor Over Crisis

Date:

President Bola Tinubu has issued a pointed message to the Governor of Ebonyi State, urging him to temper justice with mercy amid reports of a crisis in the state.

Speaking during an interfaith breaking of fast at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Tinubu said he had monitored developments in Ebonyi and advised the state leadership to balance firmness with compassion.

“I saw the crisis on the news. Please temper justice with mercy,” the President stated before a gathering of governors.

The President used the occasion — which coincided with the joint observance of Ramadan and Lent — to call for unity, tolerance, and inclusive governance across Nigeria.

He urged governors to prioritise poverty reduction, youth empowerment, and grassroots development, stressing that leadership must reflect discipline, sacrifice, and service to humanity.

According to Tinubu, development must not be defined by religion, tribe, or status, adding that opportunities should reach the most vulnerable citizens.

Reiterating his administration’s security agenda, the President assured Nigerians that the proposed establishment of state police would not be delayed.

He described security as the foundation of economic growth, noting that agriculture, business, and community life depend on a safe environment.

The interfaith gathering formed part of activities marking the concurrent observance of Ramadan and Lent, which Tinubu described as symbolic of Nigeria’s shared humanity and collective responsibility.
