Ebonyi Government Unveils One-Stop-Shop to Boost Ease of Doing Business

Date:

The Ebonyi State Government has launched the Ebonyi One-Stop-Shop (EBOSS)—a centralized business hub designed to simplify business registration, licensing, and other regulatory processes for entrepreneurs and investors in the state.

The initiative, unveiled on Wednesday at the Staff Development Centre, Abakaliki, was performed on behalf of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Oguzor Offia-Nwali. He said the new centre aligns with the governor’s commitment to improving the ease of doing business in Ebonyi State and eliminating bureaucratic barriers that have long discouraged business growth.

Offia-Nwali stated that EBOSS will provide faster access to essential business services, reduce administrative delays, and create a more enabling environment for both local and foreign investors.

Present at the launch were the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Prof. Chukwuma Uguru, and other senior government functionaries.

The Director-General of the Ebonyi State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (EB-SEMEDIA), Dr. Stephen Odo, explained that the One-Stop-Shop serves as a unified business platform where multiple services can be accessed seamlessly. He noted that the project supports Governor Nwifuru’s People’s Charter of Needs and is targeted at strengthening economic development, enhancing service delivery, and boosting investor confidence.

According to Odo, the centre integrates digital solutions to reduce turnaround time for document processing, enhance transparency, and promote better coordination among regulatory agencies. He added that EBOSS is expected to drive job creation, attract investments, and support economic diversification in the state.

Agencies operating from the One-Stop-Shop include SMEDAN, FIRS, SON, CAC, NAFDAC, RMRDC, BOI, BOA, NEPC, and NIMC.

Representatives from these agencies pledged improved service delivery at the facility. A representative of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Nnagozi Nwite, emphasized the importance of obtaining a Tax Identification Number (TIN) and urged business owners to stay compliant with tax regulations.

Similarly, Engr. Asiegbu Chukwudi of the Bank of Industry (BOI) assured entrepreneurs of on-site support for funding applications, product registration, quality control, and export documentation.
