Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has called on indigenes of the state residing abroad to channel their resources, skills, and expertise toward the development of Ebonyi.
Speaking through the Commissioner for Special Duties and State Diaspora Desk Officer, Hon. Valentine Okike, during a virtual meeting with members of the Ezza Ezekuna in Diaspora Organization (EEIDO), the governor appealed for stronger diaspora participation in his administration’s drive for sustainable growth.
The Zoom meeting, which brought together Ezza sons and daughters from across different continents, provided a platform for the state government to share its developmental agenda and encourage collaborative investment in key sectors of the economy.
Hon. Okike described Governor Nwifuru as a visionary leader committed to transforming Ebonyi through inclusive governance, infrastructural development, and empowerment initiatives. He commended the contributions of Ezza indigenes within the state’s Executive Council and urged those abroad to complement these efforts through targeted investments.
According to Okike, “Ebonyi has abundant raw materials and human potential, yet the state still needs more industries to harness these opportunities. Governor Nwifuru’s administration has created a favorable environment for investors with policies that guarantee protection and transparency.”
In his response, the President-General of the Ezza Ezekuna in Diaspora Organization, Chief Chukwuma Anyigor, who joined from the United Kingdom, commended Governor Nwifuru’s leadership and assured him of the organization’s continued support. He also expressed optimism about holding a physical interaction with the governor in the near future.
Governor Nwifuru’s call is part of the state government’s broader efforts to strengthen partnerships with the Ebonyi diaspora community, drive industrialization, and attract sustainable investments to the state.
